Say it clearly, with precision, so there's no chance of a mis-understanding. Twenty centuries ago, the Apostle Paul noted, "for now we see through a glass darkly." Paul might have felt right at home surfing the web. Sometimes it seems like web designers are in a contest to see who can use the most colors, the "coolest" graphics, the most moving elements, sound clips, video, JAVA moving banners, etc. The message gets lost. Why? The real contest is to make the clearest, most effective presentation of a message. A first-time visitor should be able to clearly recognize the message on any web page, and determine what to do about it. One major place where web-designers with no business experience create problems is in their use, and formatting, of photos and graphics. Many pictures are far too complex, poorly cropped or too large. This results in files that are way oversized and, again, too slow. Are Your Graphics Properly Optimized? |
